Getting Here

How the heck do you get here?
we encourage those traveling from afar to coordinate travel arrangements whenever possible! we recognize that it will be a major time and monetary commitment to join our celebration, and we will make every effort to coordinate travels to save costs.

want to coordinate travel arrangements with people from your region? let us know and we will hook you up! once in California, we strongly encourage sharing a car rental with folks to get about. we anticipate people coming from the following locations:

  • Southern Maine, New Jersey, Cincinnati, OH; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; Boulder, CO; Indianapolis, IN; Washington State (various); Portland, OR; Flagstaff, AZ; San Diego, CA; Bay Area, CA; California (various)

Fly Here!

San Francisco Airport (SFO)-320 miles to Willow Creek
Note: check out rates from Oakland, CA as well.
this route along Hwy 101 will take you through the small towns, prairies, redwoods and rivers of Northern California. there are many points of interest, campgrounds, tourist attractions, and unique rural california sights on Hwy 101. want to go drive through a giant redwood tree? swim with the salmon is a crystal clear river? this route is sure to provide you a truly amazing northern california experience! be SURE to drive a section of the famous Avenue of the Giants.

Sacramento Airport (SMF)-260 miles to Willow Creek
this route along Interstate 5 will take you through northern CA farmland, and expansive views. while you get closer to your turnoff (hwy 299), you will approach the dormant volcanos Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen in the distance! once you turn west, you will drive past Whiskytown Lake, through old mining towns, and along Trinity River to Willow Creek.

Arcata Airport (ACV)-40 miles to Willow Creek
definitely the easiest (but expensive!) way to get here! An amazing short plane ride in from San Francisco or Sacramento on a small plane. Fly in along the beautiful California coast, landing in McKinleyville, CA only a few miles from Arcata (where we live!). stick around Humboldt County to witness a unique lifestyle reminiscent of the hippie 60s, redwood hikes, lagoon views, sea stacks in the rugged ocean, lazy rivers, and bucolic farmlands.

Redding (RDD)-100 miles to Willow Creek
a small airport that may offer cheaper fares from sacramento. rent a car or take the bus from redding to willow creek.

Medford Airport (MFR)-185 miles to Willow Creek
a small airport that may offer good fares. rent a car and drive to willow creek along hwy 199, one of my favorite drives in the area. the Smith River will blow your mind! eventually arrive at hwy 101 for amazing ocean views, huuuuge redwoods, lagoons, and funky rural towns.

Crescent City Airport (CEC)-112 miles to Willow Creek
a small airport that may offer fares better than arcata. only 40 more minutes to arcata!

Bus Here!
Consider taking the Greyhound from San Francisco, Sacramento, or other airport location. It is a thrifty way to go, but also a much loooonger way to go. Roads to Humboldt County are windy and scenic. A car maneuver much more easily in this environment. But hey! i took the bus the first time i visited Humboldt, we've had friends take the bus from the bay area, and isaiah just took the bus to Oakland over the holiday!

Drive Here!
Depending on the amount of time you have to spend exploring our area, we recommend the cheap route of flying into a major city, and renting a car to get to Humboldt County. Please let us know if you need any help reserving a car. Reserve together!!!
