Wedding Location
"Willow Creek is a rugged mountain town nestled in the heart of the Six Rivers National Forest. It's a small community of 2,000 residents that was settled in the 1850s by pioneers in search of gold. More that 1 million acres of the National Forest surround the town, and combined with the bright blue waters of the Trinity River, the area is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Willow Creek is a favored destination for rafters, hikers, birders, and fisherman, and draws visitors from far and wide every summer. The town is also a favorite summer-home destination for many coastal Humboldt County residents. Willow Creek is currently home to may artistis, writers, farmers, vintners, and adventurers!
"Eureka! You've discovered Humboldt County, home of the world's tallest trees and more than 100 miles of stunning Northern California coast. In addition to the giant redwoods, you'll find outdoor adventures like hiking, kayaking, birdwatching, biking and scenic drives. Here too are historic small towns, the arts and surprising food and wine discoveries. And of course, Redwood National Park and the Avenue of the Giants."
Wedding Weather
Wedding Venue
Willow Creek weather in September is fab. Average daily temperatures are ~85 degrees with sunny skies, and starry nighttime lows are a cool ~55 degrees.
Wedding Venue
6800 South Fork Rd., Salyer, CA
Escot Farms is a working family farm owned by Esther and Scott Holmes. There is a garden on site, chickens, ducks, geese, honey bee boxes, and peach orchards. The farm is located along the rugged South Fork of the Trinity, and has private beach access, rock jumping and lazy rapids for tube floating.
Directions
South Fork Road intersects with Hwy 299; it's four miles east of Willow Creek, CA, and one mile west of Salyer, CA. Look for green street sign in the south side of Hwy 299. Willow Creek is less than an hour east of Hwy 101 and two hours west of Interstate-5 (at Redding, CA). Once you are on South Fork Road, check your odometer and drive 6.8 miles to the 'Escot Farm' sign which has a peach fruit graphic.
CAUTION: Driving down South Fork Road will be an adventure all on its own for those not accustomed to navigating narrow mountain roads! But enjoy, because the road reveals beautiful mountains, breath-taking valleys, and glimpses of the river below. At times, the road will be only one lane! If another vehicle approaches from the opposite direction, don't panic!! Plead ignorance and the other person will most likely back up or pull over to get out of your way. The pace of life in Humboldt is slow and welcoming, don't get stressed! Having said that, DRIVE WITH EXTREME CAUTION! And try to arrive during daylight, which shouldn't be too hard since it stays light until after 8p in late summer.
NOTE: Cell phone reception is limited at farm.
